Recently, with the cooperation of Dr. Fadaei from the Faculty of Industrial Engineering and the General Administration of Administrative Affairs, a solar cell has been installed next to the university mosque. The solar cell installed at the university has five 90-watt panels that store a total of 450 watts of energy per hour.
The purpose of installing these solar cells is to supply electricity to the projector and to provide lighting around the installation site of this device. Each university’s previous projectors had four 400-watt bulbs, which were replaced by 1.8-fold energy consumption by replacing them with 50-watt bulbs, which is also provided by sunlight. These 4 lamps consume 2,000 watts of energy per 10 hours of light, and the rest of the energy produced will be stored in the battery, and on cloudy days when the intensity of sunlight is low, the electrical energy stored in the battery is used. It is noteworthy that the productive power of the device does not depend on the ambient temperature and only depends on the amount of sunlight.
The useful life of this device is 23 years and its installation cost is about 3 million tomans. This amount is equivalent to the cost of electricity consumed by previous projectors on average over 5 years. In other words, if a solar cell is installed for all eight projectors in the university, it will bring 10 million tomans of economic savings for each of them in 18 years. Using solar cells in addition to supplying electricity from a clean energy source will also have economic benefits for the university.
