Evaluation of nitrate concentration in groundwater and drinking water distribution network of Robat-Karim City, Tehran Province, Iran

 The aim of this study was to evaluate the amount of nitrate concentration in groundwater resources  and drinking water distribution network of Robat-Karim city of Tehran Province. The study was accomplished during 8 months (March–Oct 2009). For this purpose, 40 samples from groundwater resources (wells) and 32 samples from water distribution network were collected and analyzed.  Based on the results of this study, the amounts of nitrate concentrations in all samples were much lower than its permissible levels in national and international standards.


The environmental impacts of concrete containing Nano-SiO2 and typical concrete on global warming and fossil fuel depletion: A comparison

Concrete is one of the most widely used construction materials in worldwide and Nano-SiO2 has been taken into consideration for its high pozzolanic nature in concrete. Thus, it seems essential to study the environmental function of the concrete containing nano-SiO2. In this study, in order to assess the environmental impacts, the Environmental Life-Cycle Assessment method is used. According to the overall performance results, the overall performance scores of typical concrete and concrete containing 1.5% nano-SiO2 were calculated by 52.8 and 47.6 respectively.


Towards understanding the impeders of strategy implementation in higher education (HE) A case of HE institutes in Iran

Purpose – To identify the impeders of strategy implementation in the higher education (HE) sector of
Design/methodology/approach – A structured questionnaire was distributed to the academic
staff from Iranian Universities. The questionnaire consisted of closed and open questions. Data were
gathered from the major universities in different regions of the country.
Findings – Major impeders towards strategy implementation in the HE sector of Iran are outlined


The role of environmental engineering education in sustainable development in Iran AUT experience
